Travis R. Cain

Travis R. Cain, 29, of Sumner, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015, of natural causes at his home in Sumner.

Private family funeral services will be held at Becker-Milnes Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be given to the family at 709 W. 3rd St. Sumner, Iowa for designation to a charity to be chosen later.

On April 13, 2013, he was united in marriage with Jodie Miller, at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sumner. Travis was a member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter and always cherished the time he spent hunting with his dad. Along with hunting, he was a gun collector, Chicago Blackhawks and Waterloo Black Hawks fan, and enjoyed any time spent with family, but most especially time he spent with his son, Logan.

In addition to his wife and son, Jodie and Logan, of Sumner, Travis is survived by his parents, Dennis (Tammy) Cain of Sumner; three brothers, Bret (Rhonda) Kastli of Evansdale, Ryan (Lona) Cain of New Hampton, and Brandon (Christy) Cain of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Jacie (Kale) Scheffler of Harlan; grandparents, Ronald (Leona) Kastli of Waterloo, and Larry (Shirley) Cain of Cedar Falls, parents-in-law, Jeff Miller of West Union and Tami (Eric) Robrock of West Union; two brothers-in-law, Tom Miller and Zack Robrock; a sister-in-law, Kayla Robrock; and nine nieces and nephews.

Travis was a great asset to our team here at G4S Secure Solutions. He was a hard worker, showed up on time and had no complaints about the duties he was tasked with. We send our condolences to his family and friends. Travis will be missed.

His Supervisor had this to say about him: "Travis was a hard worker, always showed up at least a half hour early to work. Would do different tasks that I would ask of him. I could trust that he could handle situations on his own. For example the possible active shooter that he stopped and numerous other incidents that he intervened in. Travis had every expectation to remain with G4S and UIU Safety and Security for a good span of time. His loss will be a great loss to this company and to the Faculty, Staff, and Students. He will be greatly missed and will be hard to replace".
